SOCIO ECONOMIC STATUS
79.93% of the total population leaves in the rural area, out of which 32.74% living below poverty line. Main occupation in rural area is agriculture and labour inadequate employment opportunities mark the rural employment scenario very pathetic Migration for labour in search of livelyhood is a major problem in the rural areas of the district.
Educations, occupation, caste, class, are the main factors, which decides the social status of people. All these factors are interrelated to each other. In India Madhya Pradesh is the only state, which has highest number of Schedule Tribes as compared to other states. Out of total population of Khandwa district 31.56% of population is ST and 12.4% of population is SC. In Khandwa tow blocks having sizable ST Population are Khalwa and Pandhana. Khalwa has (69.80%) ST population and were as Pandhana has 44.68% ST population. Above mentioned reason literacy rate of ST is very low as compared to the national literacy rate.
The Muslim population is 86239, which is 8.04 % of total population. They are lagging behind due to illteracy and mal practises like Child Marriage, Parda pratha, narrow mindness, and hindrances of girl's education.
70.80% Population of Khandwa is directly depends upon Agriculture releted activities. For their lively hood. As per regards tribal communities. It has been observed that Despite their total involvement in farming their standard of living is very poor same written the couses of marginal farmers they have struggle to meet their daily needs. Another reson for Economic backwardness is district has Resuling courpailing to leave in such poor condition. Less number of Cotton Industries existing in Khandwa district.
Hence it is the necessity to take overall view of their socio economic life, which has direct impact on their education.
